On this blog, we don’t just give you one blueberry waffle recipe, but we give you 4 different ways to enjoy the summer time fruit.

Our family went blueberry picking this year and came home with about 10 pounds of these beautiful blue orbs.

So fresh and so tasty, these blueberries are the best. When you go blueberry picking, note there are different varieties of blueberries. Some are more sweeter than others, so ask the farm you are picking at to hear what they have. The ones we picked were called Bluecrop. They are popular variety that is widely grown for being a reliable all-purpose berry. The best blueberry I have found is Liberty, which has a great, sweet flavor with banana undertones. They are large and juicy and ripen late in the season.

The different ways you can “blueberry a waffle” include:
- Putting blueberries in the waffle
- Add syrups and sauces that have blueberries in them to go on the waffles
Here are the recipes I have posted on this blog:
- Blueberry Glazed Waffles
- Blueberry Cobbler Topped Waffles
- Blueberry Dipping Sauce for Waffle Sticks
- Blueberry Buttermilk Waffles with Lemon Zest
Let me show you some pictures of these waffles and little more info on them.

Blueberry Glazed Waffles
Instead of making a syrup, I went for something thicker here. This glaze can be spread right onto any waffle to add a ton of sweet blueberry flavor. Never one to miss out on adding flavor this glaze uses brown sugar instead of white sugar (although you could use white sugar but what fun would that be). We are brown sugar loving family, we love to put it on oatmeal and Cherrios! We have a brown sugar waffle with brown sugar syrup recipe on this blog you can check out too.

Blueberry Cobbler Topped Waffles
Cobbler is one of our family’s favorite desserts. One morning we had nothing else to make for breakfast, no eggs, no cereal, no oatmeal, no milk even! What did we do? We made a cobbler with fresh picked wild blackberries that morning.
I decided one day to try putting my cobbler topping on a pancake and it worked great. It’s different. It makes the pancakes more crispy on top. Of course I wanted to try it with waffles too and it worked just as well.

Blueberry Dipping Sauce for Waffle Sticks
Kids love to dip things. That’s why we make waffle sticks quite often. And the dip I created with the fresh picked blueberries was mind blowing! It’s like dipping waffles into a blueberry cheeescake.
This dip is super easy to make with a blender or food processor, some blueberries, room temperature cream cheese, and sugar. And that color….you just got to click that link below right now so you can start gathering your ingredients!!!!

Blueberry Buttermilk Waffles with Lemon Zest
Of course I have to simply fold some blueberry in a waffle batter for a traditional blueberry waffle. But to boost the flavor I take out a lemon, remove the flavorful zest where all those flavorful oils are, and mix that into the batter along with those blueberries. That little additional, goes a long ways to make these waffles be more than just plain old blueberry waffles. Top with powdered sugar, butter, and/or real maple syrup please!
